BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) has added a new superintendent to the north end of Vancouver Island to provide closer community ties, offer guidance for paramedics, support recruitment of new staff and work hand-in-hand with health care partners as BCAS expands the role of paramedics in the delivery of local medical services.
Lance Stephenson, a certified Critical Care Flight Paramedic, brings with him more than 30 years of pre-hospital care experience including, 22 years with the City of Calgary Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department, 10 years with Alberta Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS), four years as the Director of EMS for the State of Qatar in the Middle East, two years as Task Force Team Leader for Canada Task Force Two, eight years as a casual paramedic and firefighter with the City of Airdrie and most recently as a consultant in emergency and crisis planning and response for the United Arab Emirates.
