Industry Paramedics (External to BCEHS)

BCEHS shares clinically accepted practices and BCEHS-specific operational content as examples of clinically accepted practice models with all paramedic licence holders working in B.C.
COVID-19 materials
On May 2, 2021 the Public Health Officer mandated BCEHS to provide B.C. advanced care paramedics and critical care paramedics with access to the materials we prepared to educate BCEHS paramedics to perform COVID-19 testing (both gargle and swab).

BCEHS uses a combination of clinical resources and safety policies to perform this work.

The public-access Learning Hub provides the clinical guidelines and theoretical practices developed in accordance with the directions/resources of the BC Centre for Disease Control. There is a short online exam, which generates a certificate of completion as a confirmation of knowledge.

These materials were current as of May 16, 2021. However, the reviewer should also check with the BC Centre for Disease Control for updates.

The modified practice guidelines document identifies areas of safety concern, but these are best addressed by developing agency-specific policy or, in the areas of COVID-19, by reviewing the BC Centre for Disease Control safety documents.

To access this training, please send a written request to clinicalpractice@bcehs.ca to receive the password.

To request a copy of the current BCEHS standard operating procedures for COVID-19 testing, please send a written request to the Community Paramedicine Program at communityparamedicine@bcehs.ca.

BCEHS Handbook

BCEHS provides a public-facing version of all clinical practice guidelines and other resources: the BCEHS Handbook.

The BCEHS Handbook App can be downloaded for free from either the App store or the Play store.
