Qualifications

Licenses and Certificates

Emergency Medical Dispatchers must have the following certificates prior to the posting closing date in order to proceed in the selection process with the BC Ambulance Service (BCAS):

  • A valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-Certificate (CPR-C)
  • A Basic First Aid Certificate

Other Pre-requisites you have and will bring to this role:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute
  • At least 19 years of age
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Medically fit and have successfully completed a Criminal Record Search
  • You are of good character
  • Available to work a variety of shifts as required
  • A good knowledge of the geography of British Columbia

Other Desired training:

  • Completion of a Post Secondary Emergency Communications Course
