Celebrating our paramedics: Paramedic Services Week May 24 – 30, 2020

Paramedic Services Week, May 24 - 30, 2020, honours and recognizes the work of paramedics across Canada. The theme declared this year by the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada is: Paramedics on the Front Line.

While we recognize the hard work and service of paramedics all year long, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the incredible dedication of paramedics providing patient care through a challenging, unprecedented time. In the face of a contagious virus, paramedics don personal protective equipment for every single call they answer. For some, working during the pandemic has meant isolating away from family and the creature comforts many of us still enjoy.

We invite everyone to show their appreciation of our paramedics by sending a thank-you note via BCEHS’ Thank a Paramedic webpage. A small gesture of appreciation like this can go a long way after months of intense, often stressful work on the front lines.

We also encourage you to support/retweet the #ProudParamedic social media campaign running all week on the BCEHS Twitter and Instagram feeds. The campaign aims to give you an idea of the everyday lives of some of our more than 4,000 paramedics across B.C.

To all our paramedics, we sincerely thank you for your dedication to our patients. The professionalism and care you demonstrate is truly inspirational. We are incredibly grateful for you and the amazing work you do. You make us proud. Thank you.
