The 2022 BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) three-year strategic plan provides a roadmap to address foundational issues, better support front-line employees, improve patient care.
The plan outlines how BCEHS will strengthen its foundation over three years by supporting staff, improving access to quality care, making resource and system improvements, and developing a long-term 10-year plan with input from employees, patients and partners.
The plan is built on four strategic priorities, each with specific goals and actions:
- Improve access and quality
- Improve recruitment, retention, employee wellbeing and engagement
- Develop a BCEHS Indigenous health strategy
- Create a 10-year plan for BCEHS, with an aligned capital infrastructure strategy
As part of the planning process, stakeholders told us that BCEHS plays a unique role in the health care system. In response, we revised our vision, purpose and belief statements to reflect their feedback. These statements are included in the plan.
This plan aims to create a clear path toward a strong, stable foundation and a shared understanding of BCEHS priorities. It places a strong focus on supporting employees and building more sustainable staffing models.
