Our vision is to be a world leader in paramedic-related health care and a fully integrated part of the health system.
Research plays a key role in setting best practice standards. It also provides strong evidence to guide the care we deliver across the province.
Paramedics support research as part of our commitment to improve population health, achieve better health outcomes, reduce hospitalization and save lives.
The BCEHS provincial research model supports many innovative research and quality improvement projects that aim to improve health care delivery.
We:
- Collect BCEHS data and provide appropriate access for research
- Review research proposals before they begin to ensure they align with BCEHS strategic goals
- Ensure research is scientifically sound, ethical and practical
- Support BCEHS staff with research proposals and the research process
We aim to:
- Build research capacity and awareness within BCEHS
- Align research with BCEHS and PHSA strategic priorities
- Base paramedic practice and health care systems on best practices and the best available evidence
- Increase both the quantity and quality of BCEHS participation in clinical research
- Make research resources easier for staff to access and use
