Emergency medical dispatchers must have the following certificates prior to the posting closing date in order to proceed in the selection process with BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS):
- A valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate (CPR-C)
- A Standard First Aid certificate (or higher level)
- A valid Medical Priority Dispatch System certificate (MPDS)
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Ability to type 40 words per minute
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Solid knowledge of the geography of British Columbia
- Medically fit and have successfully completed a criminal record search
- Available to work shift work including nights, weekends and statutory holidays
- Completion of a post-secondary emergency communications course
