Critical Incident Stress

Critical incident stress is a normal reaction to an abnormal event.
As a first responder, or someone who supports a first responder, you may ask questions such as, “Is this normal?” or “How can I help?”

The situations paramedics and dispatchers respond to are not normal. These events can be physically and emotionally challenging and may affect both work and personal life. Sometimes, you cannot simply "get over it".

The information pn this page can help you understand and cope with these challenges.
