BCEHS provdes contracted paramedic services at major public and international events.
Please note: BCEHS Planned Events (formerly Special Operations) has resumed services. You can contact the team at
PlannedEvents@bcehs.ca.
The Planned Events office organizes all contracted ambulance coverage across BC.
These services:
- Reduce pressure on the regional 911 system during large events
- Ensure fast and efficient emergency care on-site
BCEHS provides trained paramedics and equipment to support safe, well-managed events.
BCEHS has delivered emergency medical services at many large events, including:
- Vancouver Canucks games at Rogers Arena
- BC Lions games at BC Place
- Vancouver Whitecaps FC games at BC Place
- Honda Celebration of Light (Vancouver)
- Victoria Times Colonist 10 km run (TC10K)
- FVDED in the Park (Surrey)
- Vancouver Pride Parade
- Vaisakhi parades in Vancouver and Surrey
BCEHS was one of the first emergency medical services in North America to use paramedics on bicycles at large events.
Bike teams help paramedics reach patients quickly when crowds block traditional ambulance access.
- First introduced in Victoria in 1992
- Now active in Vancouver and Victoria
- A 24-hour paramedic bike team operates at Vancouver International Airport
BCEHS introduced UTV ambulances during the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
These specialized vehicles:
- Travel through crowded or congested areas where ambulances cannot go
- Help paramedics respond faster to 911 calls at large events
Since their introduction, UTV ambulances have become a valuable tool for emergency responses at large gatherings.
