Learn about the qualifications needed to become an inter-facilities emergency medical call-taker (IEMCT) with BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).
An inter-facilities emergency medical call-taker (IEMCT) must have the following certificates on their first day of work with the BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS):
- Graduation from a recognized nursing unit clerk or medical office assistant program
- Successful completion of a medical terminology course
- We will also consider a combination of education and experience
- Good character
- At least 19 years of age
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Legally entitled to work full-time in Canada
- Flexibility to work a variety of extended shifts (up to 12 hours), including nights, weekends and statutory holidays, as required
- Able to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check upon hire
