Learn about the qualifications needed to become an Interfacilities Emergency Medical Call Taker (IEMCT) with BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).
An Interfacilities Emergency Medical Call Takers (IEMCT) must have the following certificates on their first day of work with the BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS):
- Graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk or Medical Office Assistant program
- Successful completion of a medical terminology course
- A combination of education and experience will also be considered
Other pre-requisites you have and will bring to this role:
- You are of good character
- You are at least 19 years of age
- You have a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- You are legally entitled to work full-time in Canada
- You have flexibility to work a variety of extended shifts (up to 12 hours), including nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, as required
- You are able to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check upon hire
