Learn about the requirements to become an inter-facility emergency medical call-taker (IEMCT) with BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).
To start work as an IEMCT with BCEHS, you must have:
- Graduated from a recognized nursing unit clerk or medical office assistant program
- Completed a medical terminology course
BCEHS may also consider a combination of relevant education and experience.
You must also:
- Show good character
- Be at least 19 years old
- Have a grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Be legally allowed to work full-time in Canada
- Be available to work a variety of shifts, including up to 12 hours, nights, weekends and statutory holidays
- Be able to pass a criminal record check
