Learn about the qualifications needed to work as an advanced care paramedic with BC Emergency Health Services.
To work as an advanced care paramedic (ACP) with BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS), you must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a valid advanced care paramedic licence from the Emergency Medical Licensing Board
- Have a class 1, 2 or 4 BC driver's licence (or and equivalent from another province), or be able to get one within 6 months of your start date
- Class 5 or equivalent is required at time of application
- Be at least 19 years old
- Be legally allowed to work in Canada
- Be available to work a variety of shifts, as needed
- Be medically fit and able to pass a criminal record check
- Have experience responding to high-acuity calls in a high-volume area
- Show strong leadership skills
- Work well with others and be recognized as a team player by other health care professionals
