Community paramedics must have the following licences and certificates on their first day of work with the BC Emergency Health Service (BCEHS):
- Valid primary care paramedic licence issued by the Emergency Medical Licensing Board
- Class 1, 2, or 4 unrestricted driver's licence
- Of good character
- At least 19 years of age
- Have a grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Available to work a variety of shifts as required
- Medically fit and have successfully completed a criminal record search
